The project will focus on metabolic modelling of the gut and oral microbiome in the project Metahealth (https://nwo-metahealth.nl/), which is focused on improving oral and metabolic health in children. The project will be in close collaboration with experimental work (see https://vacatures.uva.nl/UvA/job/PhD-Position-in-Gut-Microbiome-in-Early-Life/794013102/ and https://werkenbij.vu.nl/vacatures/phd-position-metahealth-amsterdam-1079696 for those positions).

The lab will soon be looking for a postdoc to work on predicing evolution with multi-scale models of Candida within the HFSP Research Grant to study the predictability of antifungal evolution of Candida species in communities of varying complexity together with the labs of Michael Manhart and Daniel Charlebois. Sent an email with your interests and preferably list of courses and grades. I can suggest projects on computational modelling of evolution or metabolism or evolutionary simulations. Preferable, the project is executed in Python or Mathematica, but other options can be discussed.

We have only very limited internship possibilities which include wetlab research. For those internships knowledge in R is required, because the presentation of results and data analysis have to be done in R. If you contact me well in advance, I can suggest courses to take.
